Blank Page Scaries

The blank page. The pulsing curser. The freeze.

I may be a professional writer of 20+ years now specializing in full-length nonfiction manuscripts—and yet. I've put off populating the blog on this website (for more time than I'd like to admit).

Why? Not for lack of stuff to share. I've refreshed my solo biz as a ghostwriter, editor, and book coach to continue this work I love: supporting the author's journey from mental overwhelm to published bestseller.

But pros can fall prey to creative self-sabotage too. It's scary—even for ghosts!—to move from behind-the-scenes to the spotlight: "How do I brand my own thing? Who am I talking to?

"WHO EVEN AM I???"

Enough.

It’s time to put it all out there: the business, the blog, even those hesitations and doubts. Because the world may already be swimming in content, but it's also rich in possibility, connection, and collaboration.

Today, the blank text box doesn't feel intimidating. It feels like an invitation.

If you can relate—and especially, if you're itching to write that book, but you keep psyching yourself out—consider this your invitation too.

You know your message is gold. But when you don't know how, where, or even whether to start, it's SO easy to keep it all in. Meanwhile, your readers are OUT THERE—your clients, your colleagues, your people, the ones who need to hear what you've got to say.

Gold has no value locked away in your head.

Make friends with the process, even the misfit elements: the false starts, rough drafts, and killed darlings. They’re much more companionable than a blank page and pulsing cursor.

Iterate. Go for the overall shape. Assess the risks and weigh them against the strength of your will and the power of your perspective.

Blank is boring. Write something instead—and if you need help, hit me up!

You’ve Got a Book in You. Let’s Get it Out.
